Is the extra 80 dollars more for a blue-ray worth it?

I don't know how much i will be using blue-ray and I don't know how much better the picture quality is?

Does the blue-ray mean it can only be play in blue-ray via a blue ray disk or can you download blue-ray movie and watch it in blue ray?

    Thanks

The picture quality varies from Blu to Blu but for the most part, YES. A good Blu-ray is gorgeous, the best ones are absolutely stunning. If it's worth it to spend the extra money depends entirely on you and your habits, nobody can really tell you that. You have to consider how much you'll be using it yourself. As for the download stuff, if you could LEGALLY download BD movies, you wouldn't need to use a BD player.

Do you buy or rent movies? if the answer is yes it might be worth it. If not, it doesnt matter.

I purchase all my movies and series via itunes, so for me its null.

The ones that I have purchased in physical media, I did because those are hard to find or had a box that I wanted, the woody allen collection comes to mind, or the kurosawa collection

I guess I don't really need blue ray then...thanks guys

So should I use that 80 dollars more more hard drive space instead? Or is 500 gb 7200rp enough?

I haven't been in gaming research since I build my gaming desktop in 2008 so I don't know what SSD is, and there are so much new things nowadays with technology that I am at a complete lost.

What is SSD and why should I get it?

Solid State drives, they were already out in 2008.

Think of thumb drives on steroids, they ''basically'' are the same, using nand memory instead of a spinning disk, they are much faster than the usual fare of disk HDDs, usually 2-3x times, however you pay a premium for it.

And they are also typically of smaller capacity (unless you want to fork out as much as the laptop itself!). That's something to consider if you have a ton of data. Not a showstopper, but go in with your eyes open to all the capabilities of SSD.

its a simple matter of putting a caddy instead of the HDD, or going with models that accept the msata SSDs
