Hello,
I just got a Compaq F754LA the specs are:
CPU: AMD Sempron 3600+ (2.0 GHz, 256KB L2 Cache)
Memory: 2GB RAM
Chipset/IGP :NVIDIA GeForce 7000M/610m
OS: Win vista Ultimate
like its an ok budget PC.. but I'm impressed on how bad games run
even old games like quake 3 run kinda bad.
world of warcraft runs at 25fps at the lowest possible settings and horrible resolution..
and application performance is kinda slow too.
it seems that the CPU socket is an S1. so i could upgrade to an AMD Turion 64 X2 for a couple hundred bucks.. but is it worth it?
is the PC slow because of a sempron CPU being the bottleneck?
or the nvidia 610m chipset is the bottleneck?
Thank you.

The low performance in games is not the cpu, its the graphics card. Unfortunately the graphics card you have is integrated onto the motherboard, so it is not upgradeable.
I highly doubt you can upgrade to a Turion X2. You may only be able to upgrade to a single core turion, which is not really much of an upgrade.
You should save your money up for a newer laptop.

You can upgrade to a dual core turion. They use the same motherboards in thoes laptops as the dv6000 serries.

Oh and a turion tl-56 is $50 on ebay
Is Compaq F754 worth upgrading?
