    Is HDMI only good for Blu-ray?

    Other than for watching Blu-ray movies, does a monitor with HDMI provide more benefit? Given the same resolution, does HDMI give you a better picture than standard VGA or DVI? The monitor will be used strictly for gaming.

    no. HDMI does not provide any benefit over DVI for monitors.

    The benefit of HDMI is that is carries BOTH video AND audio over the same cord.

    Isn't HDMI (at least the 1.3 spec) rated for 1080p/120Hz whereas DVI will only work up to 1080p/60Hz? Not that you really need more than that... but yeah.

    No. You are talking about DVI single link cables. DVI interface can run 2560 x 1600 easily as long as you use dual link cables.
