Canada computers have the Kingston V200 128GB on sale for $70. i have heard problems with it before, but is it worth buying now after its fixed? Thanks

Personally, i would go for something tried and true like the Crucial M4 which usually goes on sale for just a tad more than the V200.

If you want something fast and cheap pick up a HyperX 3k. intel chips fast and cheap. Same chips that are in my intel 520. Buddy's been using one since launch with no issues and i been useing 2 in raid0 for a few months with no issues.

for the record, there are no parts manufactured by Intel in the 3K, the controller is SandForce (the same controller as the 520, but with different firmware and it certainly isn't made by Intel). The NAND is made by Intel from what i've seen though, but it's your standard 25nm MLC NAND.

so is the hyperx 3k reliable?
would the ocz vertex 4 128GB be a better choice? only like $10 more, or same price i think. Also considering Adata's sx900, 128gb also $100 -
I would bother w/any of these, nor the Kingston V200.
I'd stick w/a Crucial M4 or Samsung 830. We get deals on them all the time in the US.
If you really want to chance it w/Sandforce, for some reason, I'd stick w/Intel's Sandforce-based drives (e.g. 330 or 520). -
why whats wrong with the kingston and ocz drives? whats so much better about crucial and intel drives?

Well for starters, if you ever have to do an RMA with OCZ, their CS is horrible and the whole process is a pain.

Crucial and Samsung: no major issues like the F4 BSOD issues that plagued SandForce drives a while ago. Is that issue fixed, yeah, didn't prevent my Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 240GB from getting it even after the firmware fix. Intel has some of the best customer service out there, OCZ is known for poor customer support and largely ignored the SF-2281 issue until it really blew out of proportion and they no longer had a choice (at the time, there weren't as many SSDs using SF-2281 controllers aside from OCZ drives as there are now).
As for the HyperX 3K, i haven't seen any widespread issue creep up yet. -
Besides the points that tijo brought up, see http://forum.notebookreview.com/sol...yone-know-anything-about-ssd.html#post8626563.

I own both Intel 520 and Kingston HyperX 3k 240GB. Both are fast drives but the 520 is suppose to be more reliable and doesn't suffer from the issue some of the Sandforce drives have. Better firmware and higher quality NAND memory.
Is Kingston V200 worth buying?
