hey guys... been a long time since i've been here...

i've purchased my "boutique" laptop, basically a re-painted Clevo D900K F-Bomb over a year ago and so far i've been pretty much satisfied by it.

now, some time has passed and wear and tear has taken it's toll on the shiny paint job... but aside from that, this laptop has been a joy except to my shoulders...

since time has passed i was hoping that upgrade prices has lowered but it dont seem to be the case. in any case, my current setup is:

    AMD Athlon X2 FX 4800
    2GB RAM
    256MB 7800GTX
    80GB HDD x2

it seems that the current upgrades available for me is:
    FX-60 @ $900
    512MB 7900GTX @ $495
    512MB 7950GTX @ $695

it seems that the upgrades are a lot of money... perhaps due to the lack of availability...

    are these upgrades worth it?

will i benefit from the CPU upgrade?
will i benefit from the graphic cards upgrade?

my main use of the laptop is as my primary computer at work/office.
    corel draw, illustrator, photoshop, office...
gaming wise, i love the 1920x1200 resolution when playing Total War or WoW...

thanks in advance for your comments.

also, i do remember that this or similar models have had some issue with overheating on the intel/alienware versions... will the upgraded graphics cause more heat issues?

I would agree with the above posters.

If the computer does what you need it to do, who cares that it's a year old? It's still a very powerful machine. Save the cash and put it toward a new computer for when you need to upgrade.
