    Is Nvidia Quadro FX1600M 512mb or 256mb?

    Discreet = dedicated. The FX1600m in the HP should be the 512MB model. I'll admit that I'm not completely certain though.

    512 MB but it doesn`t really matter,since it`s a 128 bit bus card.
    It`s basically the 8700M GT's double meant for workstations.
    If you really need a powerful card, look into the 3600M for worstations, offered in the same HP 8710w .

    The HP has 512mb dedicated though as Eleron pointed it, it can't use more than 256 mb effectively so it's kind of a gimmick...

    The dell precision M6300 has 256mb dedicated + 256mb turbocache which is basically part of the system ram allocated for graphics use... this is almost pointless and offers little to no performance advantage... that's the reason they say 'upto' 512 mb...cos it allocates RAM for graphics usage based on the amount of ram you have....
