Neither will improve your gaming FPS. It will only make loading games faster, at the expense of disk space. Samsung and Intel both make good SSDs, though they aren't the top-rated in speeds. If you want SATA 6Gbps, your best bet is to go with a Crucial C300 drive. Those have the best performance and longevity so far.

It will definitely improve boot time and program startup time. You may also consider looking into a MomentusXT.

I don`t think SSD will increase FPS because textures and data is put on the RAM and the GPU, and gets read from there when you game. So HDD/SSD is not involved too much in the process. However if the game use more RAM than what you have available, it will put the stuff on the SSD instead and use that as a virtual memory if you have pagefile enabled. Then SSD will give you better FPS than HDD. But that should never happen

Buy.com has the Intel 510 120gb for $250 and there is a $10 coupon floating around. I think that's one of the best deals you will see for a while on the 510.

It can very slightly (VERY slightly, possibly not noticeable depending on the game) increase your FPS in CERTAIN SITUATIONS that are likely rare in most games.

For working with large files, video editing, heavy multi tasking: Intel.

For light to normal notebook usage: Crucial.

The days that 4K performance were are an accurate way to predict real world performance are in the past.

Forget 4K performance. Look at real world performance.
