I'm a student who travels frequently....I recently bought a new Toshiba Satellite A100 laptop with the following specs:

    Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 @ 2.0GHz/4MB L2 cache
    2GB DDR2 667MHz RAM (Upgraded from 1GB)
    256MB nVIDIA GeForce Go 7600

I'm really satisfied with the performance of my laptop....I knew about the Santa Rosa Platform...but couldn't wait till the release as I needed a laptop soon as I had to travel to India for my studies...

I know that Santa Rosa has a FSB speed of 800MHz wheras my laptop has a 667MHz FSB speed.... Well, does this make a very big difference in performance?? I couldnt wait for a Santa Rosa notebook as I needed a laptop urgently as I had to travel....

Have I done a great mistake? I live in the Middle East & Toshiba Satellite notebooks are very popular here...So I bought an A100 series notebook...
Moreover, new releases take time to reach here...so I had no choice....

So, will I have to regret??? Does Santa Rosa really make a big difference in performance??

To judge that, I think we need more benchmarks.

well the performance jump from 533 to 667 wasnt huge so dont expect a huge revolutionary jump with this platform but there arent any benchmarks yet so who knows.

When they switched from core duo to core 2 duo there was an increase of speed of about 10%. But that was with keeping the chipset the same and not adding anything else.

Now they changed to a new chipset, new CPU socket and added featuers. Hopefully the new FSB will again increase CPU speed by 10%. Changed in the chipset hopefully will bring another 5% in speed and better battery life. Robson hopefully will speed up boot and load times.

I think you will see a pretty big increase in benchmarks. This is because most benchmarks are still for single core cpus and Santa Rosa has this dynamic over clocking when running single core stuff. The effect you see in real life will be small. Hardly any applications are CPU limited these days.
