I'm going to be picking up a a clevo p650hs-g laptop, and I am going to get it in the 7820hk/GTX 1070/120Hz model. I want to overclock the CPU. Would a 230W PSU be enough or should I get a 330W PSU? That's all I wanna know. Thanks!

AFAIK, there are no 330W bricks that support the P650's form factor. It uses a different connector than the P7XX and P8XX.

Battery will drain when you load both overclocked CPU and GPU at the same time.

Considering peak power draw at stock from the wall is less than 200W with both CPU and GPU loaded, that leaves about 50-60w until it reaches peak power capacity of the 230W power brick (If you take into account ~ 90% efficiency of the PSU, power draw from the wall can run about 260W before it reaches peak). I doubt your CPU will consume an extra 50W of power considering its only a 35W CPU to begin with. I think it will be fine.

Not all maxing out what is possible with their machines. But fully locked down 6700hq and Gtx1070 in AcerBook Predator can push the 230W to the borderline. An unlocked i7 BGA will most likely use more powa. Depends on what you're trying on.

Interesting. I can't get my i7-7820HK with GTX 1070 to exceed 230W even with an OC. Then again, I can't get much benefit from a 1070 OC, because it seems to boost the same regardless of what the OC is set to.
Plus you can only push the CPU so far due to thermal limitations of the cooling system.Papusan likes this. -
