I gonna replace my 250GB factory Hitachi HDD with a 1TB WD Scorpio Blue one. I'm not sure whether the BIOS would recognize brands other Hitachi? Cause I know that BIOS only recognize certain types of Wifi Cards (e.g., certain models of Broadcom and Intel) And does it support 1TB?

Suggestions and advices would be appreciated.

yea i think it would work, i put a 500 gig drive in there with no problems,
just plug in the new drive and restore my backup, no issues

    Wait, isn't that 1TB drive 12.5mm thick?

Most notebooks can only take 9.5mm drives so you might want to be careful and double check first.

    ^^What Peon said

that particular hard drive will not work because of its physical size of 12.5"

The dv5t will only accept 9.5" drives

The BIOS will recognize any SATA hard drive put in regardless of brand. The white list you speak of is only for internal wifi cards

But as mentioned above the 1TB Scorpio might not physically fit. The 500gb Scorpio will fit and work though.
