I do not know how to interpit CPU benchmarks, I.E knowing if relatively small differences ( in numbers ) in the different scores really make that big of noticeable difference between comparing 2 or more processors. In my case, I know it's gona be a MSI barebones with a GTX570m & 12GB DDR3/1333.
Between the i7-2630QM & the i7-2670QM, the price is about $ 75.00 more going with the 2670.
My question? is it worth it.
( using the laptop for multimedia, graphic design & gaming )

In Passmark(CPU benchmark):
2630QM: 6355
2670QM: 6792
Really, it depends on what you use your laptops for. I do mostly basic tasks, so I'd stick with the 2630QM. -

Unless you run CPU intensive tasks in a very repetitive manner, no difference like midnightsun stated.
-
The performance difference between the two cpu's is only 10%.
Even in CPU intensive programs you will not be able to notice any real difference.
$75 difference?
Not worth it if you ask me.
If it was priced lower (below $50), then yes, but like this? No.
They are the same cpu... the 2670qm simply has bumped up base clocks (2.2GhZ vs 2.0Ghz on the 2630qm).
I'd rather focus those $75 into a different direction (a better gpu - one that has CUDA) and/or SSD. -
hmm, i see some sellers even offering that upgrade for free, try to see if you can haggle for that.
i do video editing but even i feel that the minor bump isnt worth 75usd. -
A solid 10 chars NO!

For that price you can about afford a nice SSD. THe slight power drop won't kill you.

My question is why 12gb's ram?
Is i7-2630QM VS. i7-2670QM worth the extra $ 75.00?
