I do it in my desktop all the time and I've done it to my old P2 N/B but I'm a bit scared to open up my new N/B to give it a RAM upgrade. It's got 2GB in at the moment and I don't know if it's got any free slots but I'd quite like to give it an upgrade if possible. Is it possible?

    Thanks.

Yep, its easy provided one of the dimm slots is not under the keyboard. If you open the underside panel you should be able to tell, as most laptops seem to utilize a staggered stack configuration with the ram sticks. Just be careful with the locking clips, as they can break or bend easily.

    Thanks!

If I use my anti-static wristband will it be OK? Should I open up even though the warantees still got four days to run?

Can anyone point me to the RAM I should buy please? I want to upgrade on my Clevo M570U.

    Thanks again!

upgrading RAM usually doesnt void warranty.

RAM you need appears to be DDR2 533 or 667mhz and any reputable brand will do

You won't need an anti-static wristband for the job.

Check the RAM DEALS thread for the best prices on RAM. You should get DDR2-667MHz RAM for your M570U.

Having upgraded ram on several of my relations notebooks (ones an executive assistant for a screenwriter). I gotta say it is getting easier. Older notebooks seemed to put the ram in more crazy places. Newer ones are pretty strightforward. Though some ultralights are pretty crazy. And there are the odd models that have one module SOLDERED in. (why?)

Space constraints . Some ultraportables have 512MB soldered on the motherboard, with one expandable slot left empty.
