I just got a 160GB SSD Intel X25. I also picked up the Asus U30JC. I go into the HD and see its been partitioned, OS and data.
Would you say its essential to partition SSDs drives now? How do I partition it before reinstalling W7?

The only reason/advantage of an OS/data partition setup on a SSD I can think of, is the ability to do fresh OS installs and not have to save/backup data. On a HDD there are performance implications that are not present on SSD's. SSD's not being mechanical physical location is not important as it can be on HDD.
You do not need to partition if you do not want to. Not doing is fine for many.
Sorry I can't help on the how to. I have not installed an OS in two years. I forgot. I am sure someone will have a very easy answer. I recollect it is a "follow the steps" process. -
Confirmed, it is unnecessary.

It's not required, but desirable if you want to have an easier time installing an new OS without worrying to backup your data.
I keep my HDD partitioned simply because of safety reasons and easy installation of the OS (even though it's been close to a year since I last installed it).
I'd do the same thing on an SSD.
I'd keep the OS/programs on the primary partition, with the installation files, data, movies, games, media etc. on the second partition. -
yep, not required.
However, it is wiser to do that. -
If you have only one partition = less waste & fewer slow downs. -
Best not to partition the SSD unless u have a specific purpose.

i would partition it only if u want to be organised..
Is it mandatory to partition a SSD drive?
