i just replace my old and dying hitachi HD with 40 gig seagate momentus 5400 HD. however, i noticed that it's a little louder than my hitachi and when i shut down my notebook there is a little click sound that i hear just before the HD powers off (HD led light turns off). Is this normal? I mean i also have this in my hitachi when it shuts down but the one on my seagate is a little louder.

please help i'm getting paranoid on this.... this is my first time with seagate and i feel like i should have bought hitachi instead of it....

I hear a click and a little whir when my fujitsu hard drive powers down. Should be fine.

so you can't hear a thing when your seagate powers down even if you set your ear a little closer to your HD?

That click you're hearing is the drive "parking" it's heads before allowing the platters to spin down.
