    Hi there guys

    I own a fujitsu lifebook S6410 with a T7300 cpu, 2gb ram and 500gb western digital hd. gm965 chipset

I am considering upgrading the cpu to T9500, but I was thinking perhaps it would make more sense to upgrade to mini pciE SSD, what I dont know if it would be compatible with my laptop

Something like this was what I had in mind

    http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1016/1/

I am hoping I could load the os in the SSD and use the slower 500gb hd for storage, I could remove the useless intel turbo bost module, it doesnt work with windows 7 and put the slot to good use.

the price of these SSD is becoming more sensible but i have no idea if it would be compatible

    Regards

    Joe Rubido

Not possible (yet). The mini pci-e in notebooks does not have a sata controller on it. The mini pci-e in netbooks does. Consider using an optical bay caddy instead to do this (see sig). Maybe they'll shrink expresscard SSD (with sata controller) into mini pci-e size so you could do this. Expresscard and mini pci-e in effect one and the same, just with different external pin interface.

A little rephrasing won't hurt... [no offense intended]

The mini PCI-e SSD used in netbooks utilizes a FLASH_CON slot/port in a mini PCI-e form factor. The FLASH_CON slot/port is connected to an onboard SATA/PATA controller which allows the SSD to function. The SATA/PATA controller is not connected to the mini PCI-e slot/port available on laptops.

This slot/port is not the same as a standard WLAN mini PCI-e slot/port. They are not interchangeable.

You would need a mini PCI-e SSD with an onboard SATA/PATA controller in the mini PCI-e slot/port and a BIOS that supports it, in order for a mini PCI-e SSD to work on laptops.

    Something like this and this.

Any luck on this one? I just get people mad when I ask about this anymore. It seems that in the forums I have seen that no one has actually tried. It's all theory. If you've found an answer to this please let me know! Thanks!
