    im new to the laptop scene, and i was just wondering if it is possible to switch out a celeron m 380 for a pentium m 740?

    I think you can. In my notebook Configurator I can choose both processors on the same barebone (i915 chipset). And Friend of mine has celeron 1,4 (360) and I have PM 750 and both have same notebooks.

    It totally depends on the system. The size, and the body of the system matters. Now if the same notebook can be configured with both of the CPU's you listed, then you sure can. But if it can't you may not be able to. And changing the CPU will void your warranty so watch out! ;)
