Is it worth it to get a 7200RPM hard drive over a 5400?

Ok, so I pre-ordered a new Compal IFL90 and have it equipped with a 120GB 5400rpm hard drive. Recently powernotebooks.com (where I ordered it from) started giving the option of the Seagate momentus 7200rpm hard drive. I'm thinking about calling and changing my order to a 100GB 7200rpm drive for $30 more. What do you guys think - is this worth it?

    Thanks in advance. :)

Do you know series the 5400RPM drive is? The 7200RPM is probably a Seagate 7200.1, and the 5400RPM is probably a Seagate 5400.3, which is about equal to the 7200.1 in most applications, but will be noticable in large file transfers and loading times for game maps, as well as a slight boot up decrease. See if you can get a 7200.2, the second gen 7200RPM drives blow away both the 5400.3 and 7200.1. Note the .X at the end, it designated Seagate's revision number. Also note that the second gen of the 7200 are brand new, and hard to get a hold of. I personally would upgrade to a 7200RPM drive, each little second does add up.

Ok, so clearly I am a newbie and did not read the other posts that are already on this topic - sorry to all the long-timers who might be annoyed by this - just got a bit too excited and posted without searching.

I don't know what series the 5400 is as it just says SATA 5400RPM hard drive, but the 7200 is the seagate 7200.2

Spring for the 7200.2, it is a new drive with some new technology like drop resistance, and improved overall performance.

Yeah, I prob should do that - $30 isn't much compared to the $1400 that it already costs I suppose.

I upgraded to the 120 Seagate 7200.2. I've only read great things about them.
