Ok, heres the situation, my V6 just died this morning, heres what happened:
1. Turned on notebook, surfed NBR a bit, then something from the notebook 'clicked' and everything froze. The screen was still on to what i was doing but nothing worked nor responded, not the BT button, not ALT+CTRL+DEL nor the mouse.
2. I did a hard reset via power button
3. Notebook would not pass POST, it'd just turn on and idle on a blank black screen. The power LED was on though. HD had minimal activity(I can hear some whirring though).
4. Attached HD to external enclosure, it worked fine, but I could only see the D:, not C: where the OS is located. D: was the storage drive.
5. I put in a new HD in notebook, and it booted up fine.
Is the HD dead/dying? Should I RMA it in case?
Thanks![]()

It is possible that the Master Boot Record or a partition table was corrupted. I'd make a copy of your data though just in case, but you're either looking at a repair/reinstall of XP or a new hard drive. I'd try the repair first though...GPartedLiveCD or PartitionMagic might help you.

Well, after two hours of panic(Cause my finals and essays due next week), my C: magically appeared back. I will back it up in case its sarting to fail.

Yeah...that's too bad.
But I know from experience that once it happens the first time it will probably do it again and if it starts to work again it will most likely happen sooner than before. *sigh* Good luck though!
Is my HD half dead? =_=
