    Hi all,

My 4 years old Asus Z94L laptop has a problem with the power connector which I'm aware of. It appears to be a little loose and sometimes when I move the laptop while it's plugged in and move the cable/connector it will lose contact and start using the battery so I need to move the connector up/down a little bit to reconnect it again.

So this has happened last night, I got the notification that my battery has 7% left power in it and I figured - it's the connector again so I moved it to reconnect again. The laptop switched to AC power and began to charge the battery, no problem.

Now 12 hours later I check my battery status and it's charged to only 59% and still says "Charging.." which can't be right. My battery used to get fully charged in an hours or so when the problem occures, this is the first time it doesn't. Is my battery dying? I was thinking about doing a calibration from the BIOS but if something is wrong with my battery can the calibration process just kill it? Is there any tests I could run?

    OS: XP Pro SP3

4 years for a battery is very good. It might be time to get a new one. I have had batterys just die on me before so that is not unheard of.

Wowww... My friend had the same problem, couple of weeks back!!

And it turned out the battery was dead (he said he showed it to a comp. hardware pro. who did some tests on it apparently!!). So he got a new one, and its been fine ever since.

Yeah, I really hope this isn't the case because I'm not willing to buy new battery for this old laptop. A new battery will cost more than the whole laptop.

You have done well to have a battery that has worked for over 3 years. You can search around for someone who sells a compatible battery at half the branded battery price. Otherwise it is time to give the computer to someone who will just use it as a desktop.

Connector could have gone loose again within that 12hour period causing it to not charge fully.
