Hey.
I was working on desktop computer yesterday and suddenly the computer froze and the screen went alittle blurry and everything was stuck.
So I pressed ctrl alt del and suddenly the computer turned off by itself.
I tried to turn on the computer again but this is the error I am getting:
Disk boot failure insert system disk and press enter
I am on Windows 7, so I inserted windows 7 cd and went to repair options, and none of them could help because it tells me it cannot find any Operating system?
So I thought I might have to set a partition active to get the windows back, so I used some boot partition tools and it always gave me error:
DISK I/O??
From the cd I tried to use command prompt and tried to do "diskpart" to set the partition active, but I cant get into the partition as it tells me "it is invalid at this point (something like that)"
I also opened the computer took the hard drive out put it back in, but still nothing.
No changes have been made to the computer to cause this crash, I was working and suddenly this happened.
I think the drive cannot be read at the moment.
Anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks.

freezer trick? Throw it in the freezer for ~20minuites, then throw it back in the laptop, the cold will make the metal contract and if it boots, the heads are ruined. It will at least tell you the HDD is toast.

Is this the only way? Looks like its risky if it can be fixed other way.
I had all my work on the hard drive and now I cant even backup.... -
What's the Stop error, if any?
You will often find that, provided your willing to wait, chkdsk /r from command prompt will let you get to a stage where you can boot to recover files, coupled with;-
How to use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows - as they kindly removed the direct fixmbr cmd.
if required, could give you a drive back again.
If that still gives you sod all then I have recovery software that I use which has worked in the past on totally corrupt drives to get "some" files back that were readable. -
Another option besides those good recommendations above - Puppy Linux Live CD - small distro loads completely into the RAM - should let you read your drive contents and pull the data off to another portable hard drive or a CD/DVD.
Have used a couple of times to recover items when windows won't let me in to the bad drive
Is my hard drive BURNED??
