I'm trying to figure out if my HD is bad or if something else is bad. This has been going on for a month now, but I have been having lots of computer freezes. It'll free for X amount of seconds, then unfreeze and computer is back to normal. The freeze is very random. Sometimes I can get the freeze to happen to, like if I were to open a video, it's almost 100% guarantee that the freeze is going to occur.

I did run Windows chkdsk and it could never complete. It goes to the 4/5 checks and then stops at like 12%. I also ran CrystalDiskinfo and it comes up "caution" C5 and 05 both have ylw indicators, while everything else is ok. But I have no idea what those 2 means. ATM I am running a thorough scan with HDTune, don't know how long that'll take.

I did run Windows memory test and it passed.

I am running Vista on my laptops and it's a HP DV7-1020US if that matters.

Before I dump money on a new HDD, is my HD bad or is it something else?

05 is the reallocated sector count, and C5 is the current pending sector count. If there are warnings based off those two indicators, you need to back up your data *now* and replace the drive as soon as it is done.
