Sorry for the double posts, but I thought I might get more responses here.
I have a Sony Vaio VGN TT180C which has a C2D 1.2 GHz cpu.

CPUZ and Coretemp show 1596 MHz on a 8x multi. So is the cpu overclocked, or is it error on CPUZ and Coretemp. The cpu is intel SU9300.

The Intel SU9300 is definitely a 1.2Ghz processor, but for some reason it is being read improperly.
I think the software is having issues reading the speed of the processor, because the SU9300 is so new.
I highly doubt it is overclocked.
In the BIOS, can you see the actual clock frequency?
If the bios reads 1.6Ghz than the system is overclocked, but if the Bios reads 1.2, than the software is just reading your cpu wrong.

It is a Sony Vaio, as such, most of the BIOS settings are hidden, so cannot see anything there. Sometimes, the core speed seen on CPUZ and Coretemp do fluctuate between 800 MHz and 1600 MHz.

http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLB5Q bus/core ratio (multiplier) is supposed to be 6X not 8X
-
Intel Processor ID utility will also tell you if the CPU is being overclocked.

Thanks for the link. It is not overclocked. But, it read the name of the cpu as U9300, just like cpuz. It should be SU9300.

Try downloading 1.49, they just added newer Core 2 models to the database.
Is my laptop overclocked?
