I notice a strip of green glow on the right edge of the screen. I cannot find anything about this on the internet.

I have a Asus Q501LA-BBI5T03 with Windows 8. It has a 1080p Touchscreen IPS Display.

    It is not regular light-bleed.
It does not happen all the time or maybe I just don't notice it.
I guess I notice it more when I wake the laptop from sleep.
It is noticeable on a black screen, like a normal black desktop background or from a dark scene on a video .
It goes away after 10 seconds or so on a black screen.
If it is glowing and I go to a APP, like Fresh Paint with the bright Yellow background or the Red background of the APP Start Screen, it instantly goes away.

Anyone heard of or have this?

It is right where the Windows 8 Start Strip pulls out. Can it be from that?

I tried to take pictures but it does not show.

    Thanks

sounds like it COULD be the first sign of a video ram issue.

first i'd try changing video drivers, either upgrade or downgrade and see if problem persists, if so then it's a hardware issue.
but that could be as simple as one of the 5 to 10 plastic filters sliding slightly to one side, but this is doubtful since all those filters are usually clear.

the fact it's not localized to a specific quadrant of the screen but rather the very edge means that either the red and blue is not getting sent to that line on the edge of the screen, so i'm thinking it's goning to be in the video ram unless it's an Nvidia GPU in which case your GPU could be overheating and melting it's self away from the motherboard. if that is the case you have caught it VERY early and can probably fix it with a hair drier if the chip is visible when the bottom cover is removed. just google your make/model and nvidia blow drier repair

    The screen is (partially) bad.

What you're seeing is a somewhat extreme form of what people usually refer to as "ghosting" - pretty common on IPS panels - and there's really no cure for it short of LCD replacement.

I've returned an entire box (12 pcs) of LG LCDs due to a defect that seems almost identical to yours.

Hopefully there's still warranty left on the machine so you can take it up with manufacturer.

    Good luck.
