When I tap the screen lightly or open/close the laptop lid, there are a few spots that change color. I also think that one of the spots is permanently "discolored." I haven't seen this on my laptops before, so I'm wondering if something is broken or pushing on the LED screen. Anyways, is it worth it to call in an rma to get it fixed?

The computer is a msi wind u123

I'm not sure I understand what's going on there, the video isn't very helpful either, but I think you might have a dead pixel. Also I think you are pushing the screen from the rear side with your fingers and I don't see anything abnormal.

It looks like you're just tapping the back of the lid with a few fingers.. Nothing abnormal there.. The L in LCD is liquid, which is why you're seeing those concentric circles generated, just as if you'd thrown a stone in a pond.. Discoloration occurs when you do that as moving the liquid adjusts its reflective properties.

I'm not sure what that is in the lower left where the start menu would be under windows, but it appears to be a stuck/dead pixel. Obviously it could be a function of whatever OS you're using as well, so if it's supposed to be there, than just ignore this part of my post.

    Thanks for the help :)
The only worry is that one of those concentric circles appears to be darker than the rest of the screen even without the tapping. But if that's a non-issue, then I guess I'm just ocd...

it's not a non issue. that isn't supposed to happen. probably you have somekind of problem on the lid. maybe the lid it's making pressure on that spot. maybe it coincides to the wifi antenna cable that goes behind the lcd itself.
I dunno if it can become permanent if it stays that way for much time.
If it's still in the warranty I would definitely send it to RMA.

looks like pressure on the screen.
not much i can say. no real fix either. get a laptop with a stronger back for the display, like a thinkpad.
not really a problem though. Does it bother you that much? its like pushing hard on the back of the display.

In order to discard that possibility you may have to do some very complicated tests which involve: asking other people if they see the spot.

Don't ask us cause any camera isn't good enough to show a screen. it must be in loco.

If you are good in DIY I would disassemble the notebook and remove the lid to see if the spot disappears.

Before DIYing, try to make a better video where these circles are clearly visible.

I'm at work, so I can't see the video you posted, but from the discription it sounds like you're worried about screen / color distortion that's happening when you touch / flex the screen..

 First off, stop touching your screen. It's a LIQUID MATRIX, and except in a very few select laptops, it is COMPLETELY UNPROTECTED. Pressing on the back of a laptop lid has ALWAYS created artifacts and swirls for as long as I've had a laptop. I've also destroyed screens this way (not by purposely touching the back of the screen to see if it artifacts, but by accidentally knocking / hitting the back of the lid with something - even gently).

If it doesn't have distortion when you AREN'T touching it, then stop touching it. :D

Now, if it's got stress artifacts when you're not touching it, that's another issue, as is uneven backlighting. If this is the case, feel free to ignore me.
