As the title asks! Shall I get this drive or a different one. Capacity of 256gb is important, no smaller. However price too! $350 max

I am notebook user with the Crucial M4 256GB. Notebook support the SATA II only. I would choose M4 again. Good alternative could be Samsung 830, but the Crucial M4 is good.

Any more opinion? I think I am leaning very strongly towards the M4 having read and heard lots of good things about it..

This is tricky. The 470 seems to perform better on SATA II and is a little bit cheaper to buy... and is proven to be very reliable!

Of course in a new sata III rig the m4 would be the better buy.. difficult decision to make!

Assuming you will use it with the notebook in your signature, buy the cheaper 470. Get the then current best when you buy a new notebook.

That is what I was thinking but it is only about $20-25 cheaper! I think I will go the 470 route then lol. Once I get my replacement 6990M and am sure everything is working nicely I will order one and nurse this lappy on for at least a couple of years. Has the horsepower to stay current but whether it will die or not hehe...

I would go with M4, even if the 470 performs slightly better in sata II, the difference will be unnoticeable and if in time you upgrade to a sata III laptop you will be ready, and at 256gb M4 is one of the cheapest ssds, im happy with mine, and probably will move to another when ivy bridge arrives.
