    1) The keyboard does not work
    2) The touch pad does not work
    3) The media buttons don't work
    4) It doesn't recognize the battery (if you pull the power cord it, it turns off immedately.)

Is it safe to say that the motherboard is dead? Should I go ahead and buy one on eBay or should I do more diagnostics?

Make sure you have all your drivers installed, but with that many problems, its certainly the motherboard. Your probably lucky it even recognizes the RAM, let alone boot up.

Is there anything else that doesnt work? Often the USB ports/other ports wont work either. And has anyone opened up the laptop? I opened up mine to work on it, and I screwed up the touchpad connection.
