Hey all. I'm looking at two mSATA drives right now, a MyDigitalSSD 128 GB and a Mushkin 120 GB. I'm leaning towards the Mushkin, but I've read bad things about its Sandforce controller. Is that a thing of the past, or should I spring for the MDSSD?

    Thanks.

F4 BSODs issues are mostly gone, there are still some suffering from them, but the amount is significantly lower. I personally do not have any problems with my Mushkin Chronos Deluxe.

    Good news.

On another note, is it certain model SSDs that have the problem, or just certain individuals? As in, if mine did develop problems on the off chance, could I return it and be fairly certain that the new one would function correctly?

It's not exactly brand specific, the issue is still there with people with certain hardware configurations. I'm not exactly sure what's causing the issue, but the issue is specific to the SF-2281 controller and any drive with one, except maybe Intel's drives which have their own custom firmware, will have the F4 BSOD issue. Note that even Intel's SandForce drives BSOD on some systems. We're still talking very very small percentages now.

If you have your eyes on a SF-2281 drive, i'd order from a place where you can return it if you get BSODs, but i doubt you'll get them.

Sounds fine to me. I read over newegg's warranty policy and it looks pretty complete. Thanks for your help!

I've been using the Intel 330 (SF-2281) for about a week now and I haven't encountered any issues.

There is a whole thread on the MyDigital 128GB mSata. You should check it out. As of this moment, it is 2 threads above yours. Well, now it will be a couple of threads below it.
