Hi,
I can't drive my 22" Acer (1680X1050) with my old laptop. I thought it was because of its poor video card (sis m760g) but some say that whatever video card I have, I won't be able to drive a 1680X1050 resolution via VGA port (only possible with DVI).
I'm really unsure of that. Someone can infirm that ?
Also, I hope to be able to drive the 22" with my new Inspiron 1501 with the ATI RADEON® Xpress1150 with 256MB HyperMemory. Will it works (via VGA)?
Thanks in advance
Cheers,
Fred

It should be fine with the integrated 1150. Granted, it won't be as good as DVI/HDMI but it'll work.

I have no issues with my 22' Samsung and Inspiron 600m running XP and the onboard ATI Radeon 9000. 1680x1050 works fine over VGA. It's likely your video card.

there's a max resolution for the card.
-
That is the cards max. VGA I have no idea. -
Highest I can go with my CRT and a VGA cable is...
2048x1536 @75hz
And thats a limitation of my monitor, not the VGA cable.
So you're nowhere near the limit yet. -
Good ! glad to know that everything should work ok.
Thanks to everyone for the answers... your help is much appreciated !
Best Regards
Fred
Is there a maximum resolution with the VGA port ?
