Did any company ever make an 8gb DDR2 ram module? or is 4 the largest?

I believe 4GB DIMMs were the largest during that era and even those were finicky and not always worked.

@kojack there is - fully buffered, for servers. It won't work in non-server PC, be it a laptop or desktop.

Careful with DDR2 4GB DIMMs - make sure the ones you are buying are supported by both board and CPU properly.

I will take my chances...I would say my local store has a bunch of it sitting there.

Ok...I will do just that. My LCS will know what works anyways. He's been at this stuff for YEARS!

Look at eBay and then make sure your system works some may not work because of you hardware BIOS doesn't support it as well. So unless it is certified or tested to work for your system one needs to do their homework on their laptop first to know. -
Hey Storm Jumper. I am going to do 2 4gb sticks that will be tested in my laptop before I buy. Should be good to go then. Add the t9300 processor and I think it will make the system much smoother and faster.

Yes, but note for Laptops... 4GB was the largest for SO-DIMM DDR2.

let me know what the price is for 2 x 4GB DDR2. I have a thinkpad T61P I'm looking to max out with a X9000 and 8GB of ram for collecting purposes.

Will do when I get to the store again..should be late next week!
