Is there any way to caliberate my laptop's battery? I'm using battery bar and sometimes it shows 20% battery depletion and sometimes it shows 60%... i'm quite sure this isn't a software error... double checked with pc wizard 2009 too... so how how can i caliberate the battery?

Fully discharge the battery and recharge it? That generally does the trick...

Fully charge the battery then go into the bios and leave the notebook till it shuts off, then leave for 1 hour to let the battery cool then re-charge with the notebook turned off.

i heard that there's a battery calibration tool called batcal... does it work?

You don't need it, it might show you a pretty picture and some nice number but that's about it.
Just do as i said above and you will be fine, the notebook and the battery has over-discharge protection so you cannot do any damage unless the battery is faulty.
But only calibrate the battery every couple of months as it can increase your wear level. -

Just as long as the battery is still in warranty as a full discharge/calibrate can expose a faulty battery.
Also some bios have a calibrate function built in, but they do nothing more than i described in my post 3, but it may give you a battery capacity remaining counter.

Ok i'll try this tomorrow

the problem with battery calibration is that you have to do it on a regular basis. batts wear out unevenly and almost unpredictably, the effort spent to constantly calibrate for battery wear out might be better spent saving up $$ for a new batt or laptop.

When you get to <10%, reboot into your BIOS menu and let your notebook sit until zero so you don't lose any data in Windows.
