I'm asking because I just installed 4gbs of ram and its only showing 3.09gb of ram and i have a feeling the integrated video is using a lot of the missing chunk. Any way to lower it to 256mb or something? I have the intel 4500HD that says uses up to 1759mb of shared video memory if that helps.

Well it's dynamic, which means it uses as much as it needs, up to 1759mb. There may be an option to change in the BIOS, but otherwise you'd just have to live with it.
It's extremely unlikely it would ever come close to using that 1759mb though, so keep that in mind.
Also another thing to consider is, once what ever application you're using closes, it releases the used RAM back to the system. I really wouldn't worry about it. -
but is it normal the ram to be so low? In system properties it says 4 GB but in the task manager it only says 3gb. I know that it wont show all 4gbs but i kinda expected it to at least show 3.25gb?

If its Vista 32, it'll recognise anywhere from 2.5-3.75GB depending upon the H/W and BIOS.

I installed a 2gb ram, and it shows up as a 2gb ram. It depends on what ram ur using.
You can edit how much ram the integrated video gets in the bios setting during start. I think you hit F10 or escape. -
Shared memory will show up in the OS....

IGPs dont really have the power to fill up that much video memory so i wouldnt worry about it.
Its dynamic and you should leave it that way. -
I believe the difference between 3.25-3.09 is the amount of RAm used by your IGP otherwise it WOULD show 3.25 but you IGP is using the rest. Anyway you have enough memory for both system and video so you shoudn't worry.
Is there anyway to lower the ammount of ram is being used for the integrated video card?
