Is there some way to test RAM performance?

Forgive me if this is a stupid question...

I recently purchased an HP DV5000t with a 1.73ghz (t2250) core duo processor and 1 gig (2x512) of installed ram. After removing a bunch of useless junk, I ran the full test at pcpitstop.com and everything seemed perfect.

I upgraded the ram to 2 x 1gig of OZC PC4200 533 ram, and rebooted. Ran the same test and the score dropped dramatically, one of the issues has something to do with the ram showing it's operating at almost half of what similarly equipped machines are running.

does anybody know what this means? or is there something I can run to test the ram? I have CPU-Z so I can run that but I have no clue what the numbers mean.

Should I have gone for the 1.83ghz processor with the faster bus, or now they have the core duo 2's?

    thanks
    j

It might not be fully compatible with your laptop.
    There's also DDR2 667. Which is faster.
You are going to have to get acquiented with the # on CPUZ
PAste a picture of the different pages you get here.

I believe the 1.73ghz processor uses the 533 memory which is why I purchased that particular ram.

which number on CPU-Z am I supposed to be looking at? and which pages do you want me to post images of?

sorry this is all new to me.

    thanks

do any of your applications run slower? Games not play as well? If not, synthetic benchmarks mean very little. And you may have somehow disabled dual-channel mode.

CPU-Z can show you the Frequence, FSB :DRAM, CAS# Latency, RAS# to CAS# Delay, RAS# Precharge and Cycle Time. All of them are supposed ot be looking at. CPU-Z also come with a "latency" after you down this program, it also show you the cache latency computation.
    Cheers
