    Hello all,

I sent in my faulty Supertalent 120GB model :SSD 120G|STT FTM20GK25H R which uses a Jmicron controller that stutters. Read:120mb/s Write 40mb/s

I have just been told that they are going to "upgrade" me to a newer model :
    FTM28GL25H – GL version 128G; Read: 150mb/s Write 100mb/s

Is this drive any good and is it stutter free, is it basically a worthwhile replacement or should I demand better? Does the GL version have important firmware updates necessary etc?

    Cheers :D

I couldn't find anything on the controller.

If it's a Jmicron, it's still bad, but better than your "current" one.
If it's an Indilinx, it's leagues better than your "current" one.

Either way, you should get a decent boost in performance.
Just check with them and see if you can find out which controller they used in the drive.

No good. This is a MasterDrive OX, which is still JMicron powered. You should demand better - preferably nothing less than a 128GB Indilinx drive.

Alright I have sent an email asking for the FTM28GX25H which is Indilinx based MLC drive 260mb/s 195mb/s. Considering the faulty one I sent in is only 5 months old and was itself a replacement for my first drive that failed in under 12 months I hope they listen to my request :(

If he bought an SSD with a Jmicron controller that's what he's 'stuck' with.

Get the replacement drive, the most recent/best one SM is willing to send to you.

If the drive is unacceptable to you, then sell it, probably at a loss.

Use the loss as a learning exercise.
