I can'f figure out what's number 2 in the photo below?
It's from an eisystem 1211 laptop. It has the same length as a a DDR2 module but it is a bit thiner (I think). The separator inside the socket 2 is not pefectly alined with one in number 1. It is off by 1 or 2 millimeters

It`s not an mxm graphic card slot by any chance.

I don't think it is an mxm socket since this is a budget laptop.
This is a bigger photo, and as you can see there are no wholes to fix an mxm card either.

Have a look at the link below.

Nothing goes there , it's just 1 elevated ram slot
-
thanks for the link. I know that this laptop has only when memory slot, this why I asked what number 2 was for.
Still it doesn't explain why this hole has a separator (a plastic stopper located inside a memory slot... not sure of its name) and that this separator is not aligned with the one in the memory slot (i.e. number 1 in the first photograph) above it

It is still just a memory socket. It isn't anything else. Just because it looks like there is some sort of slit there doesn't mean anything. It would be using the same exact pins as the memory stick, and only half of them at that, so clearly it is nothing. The second picture just shows two memory sockets.

a better photograph of the slot
-
The second photo is from a different laptop. It is just a reference photo to show that there is a second hole on the eisystem memory slot while the toshiba didn't have one
-
Yeah, I can tell.
-
sorry then. I thought you missed it
-
You can clearly see that nothing goes in there , there's no pins or anything.
-
I can't see any diffrence between this hole and the memory slot above it. Both of them have pins and they look identical
The only difference between the two is the size of the openning and the location of the plastic bit inside them
Is this a memory socket? or is it something else?
