So i think my lcd inverter has been frying up.
A couple of months ago there was noise coming from my laptop from around the lcd area, i got a few suggestions saying that it could be my lcd inverter. So just to make sure before i bought a new one, i did some testing.

So theres a buzzing sound coming from the lcd area when my laptop is on (plugged/unplugged) and when i set the display to turn off, the noise just goes away, completely. All thats left is the fan noise. That has to be the lcd inverter then?

Also does anyone know what lcd inverter the toshiba satellite a300 uses?

Unfortunately I couldn't find an LCD inverter for your specific model on eBay, but you can almost certainly purchase the part from Toshiba. The advantage of buying from Toshiba is that you're sure to get genuine and well specced parts. The disadvantage is that most manufacturers charge steep prices for replacement parts.

Another piece of info I found for you is the disassembly guide for the LCD assembly of the Satellite A300:

hey, thanks for the help! I was looking around on ebay myself and i couldn't find anything.

As for the disassembly, do i really need to go through all the trouble of removing the top cover? because the lcd inverter is simply located under the screen and i think i don't have to remove the LCD right? all i need to do is unplug the cables, remove the inverter and put in the new one?
