I went into my Bios and changed my hard drive setting from "Bypass" to "Quiet". Will this affect my laptop's performance in any way? Will it be slower than before or produce more heat?
Thx for ur time

Quiet mode slows down the hard drive. There is no fan for the hard drive, so the only way for a setting to produce more heat is to spin the platters faster, which will just make more noise. Quiet mode slows the platters down, which leaves it reading slower, too.

I suggest you run a HDD benchmark test, such as HD Tune, for the two settings and tell us the difference.
I would expect the quiet option to slow down the head movement very slightly but not change the rpm and data transfer rate.

If you don't feel bothered by any eventual change of loading speeds and it really is quieter, then keep it on quiet.
Is this ok?
