Unfortunately not possible, unless you are going to get a 1510 motherboard as well.

If you have a look between the 1500 and 1510, nothing of the ports are in the same place.

You are not going to be able to use any other the parts from the 1500 for the 1510 or the other way around. They are entirely two different notebooks.

Well if you have the motherboard for the Vostro 1510, you can bring the RAM and the hard-drive over; maybe the processor. But of course you'll need the heat-sinks and other miscellaneous parts.

Maybe this would be a waste of time for me...Maybe i'll just wait for the i7 laptops. But i really liked the slot-loading feature.

I have a slot loading drive on my Mac. There's nothing special about them in my opinion. With enough skill anything's possible, but replacing your broken case piece seems like the best course of action.

I thought slot load was special when my old acer had it... but once I realized that there was some disks it couldn't read/grab it became a pain I had Acer replace it with a tray one... then the motherboard burn up (actually)... and I removed it from sight(it wasn't worthy lol, jk).

as for your question, I would wait. you'll waste your life trying to ressurect old tec... which ahs no value and likely won't work.
