...to go from an Intel T8300 (2.4GHz, 800MHz FSB, 3MB Cache) to an Intel T9500 (2.6GHz, 800MHz FSB, 6MB Cache), on a Dell XPS 1330 laptop?
-
depends but not rly, .2ghz won't make too much of a differnce. u can see it. but the price tag of 300 prob won't justify it enough...
-
what are you going to use the laptop for?
only certain cpu intensive programs will really benefit from the T9500's raw power -
Thanks. I should add that I'm mainly going to be using the computer for graphics work - Vectorworks, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator - and some GIS.
-
I can't speak to Vectorworks, but I run CS3 without a problem on my 2 GHz T2500 T60.
$300 is a lot of money ... If it were me purchasing, I would put it toward something else. -
Does Dell offer the T9300? And if so how much extra does it cost?
-
I suppose I could phone Dell to ask if they can offer me that one. -
No. T8300 has the best price/performance ratio.
-
Personally, I would put it in a piggy bank for about twelve to eighteen months, then buy a SSD drive.
Heck, at the rate prices are dropping, make that six months -
-
$300? No not worth it in any way. I mean unless you are rich!
-
im using a T9300 on my Vaio SZ...its very very powerful, but as others have mentioned, i dunno if u'll notice the difference unless u do very processor-intensive tasks. i also like the 6MB L2 that comes with the T9300. but ur question is if its worth $300. my first reaction is "no way", but again, it depends on ur requirements. i wouldnt upgrade
-
Another vote for 'Not Worth it!'. T8300 is totally good enough almost for everything.
-
If you really need that extra bit of performance, you could look into overclocking.
-
Cant OC the M1330 or M1530
-
nope, not worth the upgrade, the performance difference is not noticeable at all. The only reason for justifying the upgrade is either you do a lot of raw calculations, or you like the number 9 better than 8
-
Yeah, its not worth it.
Spend the money saved on a faster harddrive and 4gb of memory if you have not already configured your system that way.
Any of the T8xxx or T9xxx processors are already ridiculously fast, so you will not be able to tell the difference between the two.

Is this upgrade worth $300....
