Dell XT299 XPS One A2010 MXM73D8 MG Video Graphics Card 512MB | eBay

I've seen empty ram slots that have blank ram sticks that have to be in them if not used "terminator" . Is this the same thing for MXM or is actually some kind of ultra low end 2D only video card or maybe some sort of vram/memmory board for shared ram for on on board chipset?

On the chip reads Chrontel Ch7308B-TF

If I understand correctly, that's a chip that transforms GPU data into LVDS signal that display panels understand. So I would think that card is needed if you have chipset VGA (saw Intel G33 mentioned so that's OLD, even I have P35 based computer now) to route graphic data from chipset to dvi-out. That card could be replaced with ATI x2400 512MB or something but it definitely isn't one.

I could be totally wrong of course. Wouldn't be the first time :p
