    That's why you get Windows Home Server. Just plug in drives as you need more space, automatically adds it to the storage pool.

    3 TB isn't a lot if you start shooting HD footage...
    And Photography can fill that pretty quickly too.

    What I'd be worried about is backup -> where do you mirror the stuff in case the drive fails.

    On that note - my Home Server has 7TB :)
    And I have 1,5TB available for travelling.

    Yes, although given the way many flashing utilities work, you need to be able to boot from the external hdd/ipod/sd stick, which will probably mean you can't use the iPod, and maybe not the external HDD.
