I'm really interested to know how many of you actually own the 2920XM and how many of you will actually buy the 3920XM.....

I'm plan to swap the vbios with the right one taken from a newer IB model.

It will probably still not work after that, but it would be cool to play with an IB CPU.

But not at their current prices.

It's nice to see Intel getting more serious about integrated graphics performance. I'm definitely interested in seeing upcoming reviews for ivy bridge.

We did all that, putting in HD4000 video BIOS and IB microcodes...it won't boot because it requires an 8 series ME firmware too.
Even sources with the internal Intel documentation tell us that it can't be done because of
the new voltage tables these CPUs use...that being said I have a chip programmer and BIOS chip motherboard socket on the way... ;)

So you already have an IB CPU and have tested with a SB notebook?
Do you think there is no chance of updating the ME firmware? Or is that what your chip programmer is for?

Someone else had the IB CPU...for the ME firmware update you only need software (I have updated the ME on my own system to the latest 7, but with ME8 it may just not boot afterwards...the programmer is to recover from bricks while testing...could pre-test ME8 on my own system and the guys with IB flash it...or may also get an IB myself next month...

Did that other person with the IB CPU also update to ME8 before he installed his new CPU?

Also could you please give me a link to the software you use to update the ME firmware?

can you tell me also about the software?

I'm doing some mods to a l502x bios, since it is hm67 based, one of my goals is to add ivy bridge support, so the system can use ivy proccesors too.

any hint/advice in order to get the right path to get this working? :)
