Hey,
Although I'm quite embarassed... I REALLY need a hand here... well.. at least a virtual one (help, please)!
The thing is, I'd bought this new thermal compound OCZ Freeze, in order to use it in both my CPU and GPU.
However, after removing over 30 screws (and I ain't kidding!) from my G1S, the damn plastic back cover wasn't "willing" to be removed! In the sense that, somehow even with no apparent screws on it, the back cover remained highly attached to the notebook!!!
Then, after some hours of hardwork and a with a nasty headache starting to show its bad effects... I decided to gave up trying to do it by myself and seek "professional" help instead! I'd even called a friend, but he couldn't do much as well...
And that's why I'm posting this thread here: you're the only ppl who can help me!
Well, because I couldn't remove the entire back cover, I ended up just cleaning up my CPU and spreading the new thermal compound over it... but I'd like to know someway to remove the whole back cover, cause then I'd be able to apply some thermal paste on the GPU too.
Anyone can help?
Thanks in Advance.![]()

Awesome laptops Notebook Evangelist
so are you going to kill the lappie or let it live
-
Your pictures are too blurry.
Get closer to your notebook and maintain steady hand when shooting photos.
Look for owners manual. Search "tweak" forums to research how others did this.
There may be some screws which you don't see that need to be removed.
Good luck. -
You may have to remove the hex bolts which connect the mother board to the shell. (These are the hex bolts which are located right next to the serial, VGA port and such)
Remove these, and it should come apart.
If it still does not want to come apart, then there may be a bunch of plastic snaps which hold the chassis togther. Usually a wiggle and a pry with a flat head screwdriver will let you take the plastic apart.

Have you checked your service manual?
You should turn 'Macro mode' On when your taking up close photos with your digital camera. -
-
Noodle were you able to do the upgrade?
-
Yeah either run macro mode and/or have better (more) lighting.
-
there are usually screws under the keyboard that need to be removed
Journey of a failure attempt to change the G1S's Thermal Compound !!! =((((
