Just got my 4gb of RAM. I thought Vista wasn't supposed to detect it all...

    Which processor ? (I guess 945GM chipset)
It will physically support 4GB, but will show 3.5GB. (irrespective of the OS installed)

Yeah that chipset, 1.83Ghz T5600 as the cpu.

Does the D620 do 64bit? and are the drivers supporting the 64bit version of vista?

    Thanks again.

I think you are getting confused here? 64bit does have everything to do with hardware (CPU). PAE? Forget you ever heard of, it does not work well and now that 64bit is available is more worthless than it was before.

Your CPU is a Core 2 Duo and does support 64bit OS. ;)

Drivers? I don't know. Certain there are how hard to get working? Could not tell you.

I dont mean to add any fuel to the fire, but I have included a screenshot of my laptop with 3Dmark 05's spec window, "My Computer" properties, and Task Manager, All showing 3.75GB availible ram. Now let me be clear, I'm not arguing the fact that my computer is using that much, I completely understand how that is impossible, but perhaps this is simply a Dell specific bios glitch or something? I dont know.

    *shrug*

It is perfectly possible for Vista to address any number less than 4GB of ram. Don't see whats the big deal about...

Yeah I thought as wiki had said so.

Quick Q (off topic) - if I bought a 2GB Stick now would I still get dual channel ram with a 512mb stick?

    1 x 2GB stick
    1 x 512MB stick.
