Starting assembly now on this. Anyone interested in a build log w/ pics + review?

Ya, I'm considering doing this, let me know how it goes.

Yes! Please take lots of pics and a review would be awesome!

Yea I'd love to see that too.

Isn't the OCZ DIY a rebranded Compal JHL 90?
Read Sager 2092. -
If you do a build log, post it in the Compal forum(it might become a sticky) -
Doh, yes, JFL90/92.

Well, I finished assembling. Took a bunch of pictures so I'll put together a build log sometime next week. Just some impressions that I have first, though:
Assembly was stupidly easy, all told took me a little over an hour and nothing more than a phillips/flathead screw driver. Essentially you are just popping in RAM/HDD, dropping in CPU (C2D mobile only), then bolting on a fan/heatsink pipe. Hardest part was the wifi card with was a pain due to its small size.
Documentation is pretty thorough with the small exception of removing the bezel.
Optical Drive and video are not replaceable or accessible. This is a pretty big downer.
Screen's color fidelity is a little off. Not very vibrant but decent quality and sharp image.
The case is a little bulky but overall not too heavy, around 6 pounds.
Battery life is ok, got about 2 hours of gaming/DVD installs.
Port selection is kind of meh, no HDMI or e-Sata or FW, just USB and VGA.
Overall, it's a fun DIY project, but I'm not too hot on this specific model. For the specs/price (~$700-800) you won't be saving all that much money in the long run. -
I think they should remove the 8600GT to reduce costs.

Take a look at the this compal IFL90(should apply to the JFL92) disassembly guide.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=144625
It goes into more detail on how to remove the ODD(1.4), LCD Bezel(1.14) and GPU(1.20-not recommended) -
Yup, that guide applies to this model. Looks like the only thing worth removing would be the ODD in favor of Bluray at some point, other than that the LCD and GPU look like waaaaay more trouble than they are worth.
Just got my OCZ DIY Laptop...
