I've been happy with my pinmod OC for over a year now but I found a decent guide on how to increase the overclock with Clockgen. The last time I tried without instructions and not knowing my PLL even the smallest software overclock failed. Now with this guide and a little trial and error I have figured out my PLL and finally hit the 50% overclock mark today!!!(PM 725 [email protected]) And on top off that it's still running this overclock (slightly) undervolted.![]()
So take a look at the guide if you're feeling adventureous or curious. I found it very helpful, hopefully someone will appreciate it as well.
And of course any and all modding attempts are done at your own risk!

You are pushing the limits! Congrats! I will look at the guide but I am not going to start off trying for that! That is way insane!

Nice. The pinmod is probably one of the few really effective laptop overclocking methods available. How is it for heat output? - post idle and load temps?

Warlordone can you please tell me whether i can pinmod or not???? Thanks

I have no idea what the PCMark number actually means...I'm sure it's not that great but the tests are good because I can compare them to the previous results I've had with this laptop:
Low Multiplyer
idle: 35°C
load: 40°C
High Multiplyer:
idle: 41°C
load: 63°C
I'm not to thrilled about the Max Load temp but 63°C is far enough away from 100°C to not worry me. -
insane! so does this guide works also on dual cores?

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
Impressive. Though laptop OC seems to be generally rare enough that any successful instance is impressive XD
Also, I never knew there was such a thing as an Inspiron B120 until I read this post -
As for the B120, it's what you could get on black friday 2 years ago for $399. Much better than standing in line... -
I have tried everything software.....seems like i can't do anything to my type of mobo....grrr
thanks anyway!
Just hit the 50% overclock mark today...
