I've never used a wireless connection for a pc before so I have no idea what would be a good router to get. The laptop is an HDX18t and has an intel 5100AGN wireless card. Whats a good router that doesn't cost too much?

Also I need a backpack for this thing. I was looking at a Targus XL but wanted to know what else is out there.

Also will I need to get a mouse and keyboard right away or is the touchpad easy to use and adjust to? Like i said, I've never had a laptop before.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Wow I didn't really look through the forums much for the right place to put this. Is there anyway to delete my topic?

I'd recommend any standard wireless G router, I prefer Netgear or Linksys as far as brands go.

You need to make yourself a camamila tea, because you seem a tad excited.

I have had the targus matrix backpack (for like 6 years). 3 notebooks later it still looks and works great.

For a router, a simple but bullet proof solution is the wrt54g router.

For a keyboard and mouse, everyone has their own opinion on those, but if you have bluetooth on the laptop maybe getting a bluetooth mouse would be a great idea. I have the Microsoft 5000 laser mouse and it works great, and its bluetooth.

I'm not a huge fans of touchpads so I'd recommend getting a cheaper USB laser (not optical) mouse right away. Logitech makes a bunch of them under $30. I'd avoid wireless mice unless you're getting a really expensive one because they tend to have a noticeable lag.

I would wait on the keyboard because most notebooks have adequate keyboards already, however if you strongly dislike yours after a week of use then get a generic USB keyboard.

I've got the bluetooth version of the MX Revolution and there's no lag at all other than the 1/2 second when it awakens from sleep.

I use this cordless AkiMOTO keyboard & 5 button mouse, [IMG] it was cheap and ran cheap until I uninstalled the drivers it came with, letting the O/S assign its own, now it works much better than my bro's Logitech cordless keyboard & mouse which he paid more for.

It does go through batteries, I'm guessing most cordless do if you use them a lot and you'll need rechargeable.

    Hello S P Q R,
I am interested in getting the same thing that u're using.
    I've got two quick questions.
    1) How much is the retail price for the Akimoto wireless desktop?
    Google isn't returning any results.

    2) And what's the specs like (latency, range, lifespan etc.)?
