Hi guys, I just have a couple questions about my new processor. I just swapped my Studio 1555's T9500 processor (2.6GHz/800 FSB/6MB L2/35W) for a new P8600 (2.4GHz/1066 FSB/3MB L2/25W). Are there any good ways to squeeze the most battery life I possibly can out of this? I've already undervolted it, although I don't think RMClock's voltage readings are entirely accurate; according to my settings, it's at 0.8750V at the minimum 6x multiplier, but according to its actual voltage readings, and those of CPU-Z, it's at 1.000V. So, is there any way to take the voltage down further, to the actual 0.8750V value?

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Cheers,
    Brendon/Shroom

1.51. But I know its voltage reading is off; it's claiming I'm at 1.13V.

try 1.41, i think that's the only version known to report the right voltage.

i don't think there are any way to lower the voltage further.

Have you tried any other programs to read voltage?

Cpuz beta 1.52_02 seems show VID correctly. Everest also had an offer of one of their older ultimate editions for free personal use which is good for this too.

As far as I can tell, having a quick look at a P8600 dump it would seem your max and min voltage through software will be limited to 1.200V & 0.925V. Don't confuse this with what you are actually setting, in other words if you set 0.850V the software will ask for 0.850V but you will actually get 0.925V. ;)

has your fan been going off less? i have a T9550 and it keeps activating the fan at times and have considered the P8600. Undervolting doesn't seem to be doing anything at all with the fan going off less.

Any particular reason for the downgrade, the T9500 is 14% more powerful than the P8600 according to passmark cpu rankings, Is it battery life?

He may not be using any applications that might benefit from that 14% more power.

Yeah, basically. I have no reason for that extra 200MHz, and I can get significantly more for selling the T9500 than the P8600. And more battery life is always good.
