My Hard drive on my Z96Js is about to kick the bucket. It's ridiculously loud, heats up more then it should for a 5400rpm drive and recently the computers been getting hit with the BSODs.
Did the test and yep, bad sectors![]()
So I'm off to go buy a new one tomorrow but after looking through some websites... My laptop houses a SATA drive. Would a SATAII notebook drive work or will I have to get a SATA one?

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
You can use SATA1 or SATA2 hard drives, but you will be limited to SATA1 speeds. This won't be a problem unless you get an X25-M or a similarly speedy SSD.

Cool.
Now the next question. Would a 500GB hard drive work in the laptop? I lost my manual for it long ago...and remember reading some older stuff can't read large hard drives. -

A 500GB drive will work. As will a 750GB or 1000GB drive whenever they release those

Thanks much Commander!
