Hey guys, I ordered some k5 pro to replace my laptops thermal pads when im gonna do another repaste with gelid extreme.( just did a repaste with kryonaut wanna try another repaste.)

Im not sure what to expect when i apply the k5pro or how to apply it. I was told there was a need to heat it up or some sort.

Would like to here everyones experiences with it if they have and the results as welll
Would you all recommend it? Or just use some thermal pads?
I will be leaning towards arctic thermal pads cause of its price

Mannyy thankss and a happy new year~~~~

I have no experience with K5pro...
But if it's a thermal pad, then I don't see how or why it would need to be heated up. You just apply the thermal pad in question to specific chips you want (such as vrm's- voltage regularots, GPU memory chips, etc.).

I got myself Fujipoly Extreme thermal pads so I can eventually use them in my GL702ZC laptop as a way to replace the thermal paste Asus used (which is of questionable quality and application).

The k5 pro is not a thermal pad but like some sort of gummy thing which is meant to replace thermal pads. It is good cause you dont needa worry about thermal pad thickness.
But im would like the find out from people whether it is effective in keeping the components cool.
Will the pressure be enough for effective heat transfers and so forth.

Cause i ordered on and its already on its way. So i dunno if to test it and see how it goes or just to order new thermal pads from arctic or something

Just looked into it and it seems the K5Pro is a viscous thermal paste meant to replace thermal pads.
I suppose that in a way it is better than thermal pads as you don't need to worry about thickness, but it's thermal conductivity seems relatively low in comparison to say Fujipoly pads (regular or extreme).

Also, the videos of K5Pro I saw showed people using massive amounts of it.
I would imagine that less is more when it comes to thermal paste and you'd be better off not using too much.

Regarding the amout to put, the makers of this is very persistent that that is the right amount to put. Saying once appling the heat sink, the right amount will stay between the components and hs so ill just follow and see how it goes.

Maybe i might end up doing a few repaste to actually figure out if the k5pro or thermal pads will be better

    k5 works ideally from 0-0.5-1mm

thicker is better to use thermal pad
