The keyboard on my Inspiron 1520 is going a little haywire. When I put y it'll say y7, when I push other letters, it puts in different letters and symbols, and the space key will stop working. Restarting it usually helps but I want to fix it before it becomes a problem. Is this a software or a hardware thing? Help!!!

Uninstall the keyboard from device manager and reboot. If that does not help then you most likely need to replace.
